In general, I'm not opposed to it -- though you should probably put a warning if your work contains a significant amount.

I think I'd only get annoyed by abundant use of racist/sexist/etc profanity in a work that shows no hint of the author's knowledge that these are bad things to say. Obviously this is more of a personal issue, and a story that discusses these themes intelligently might still include the offensive language; I think it'd have to be quite extreme before I spoke to the author about it. (Or if the author said it's a-okay to use such-and-such a racist/sexist/etc phrase, but that's a quite different matter.)

I hope this is not too vague. =/ I'll try to refine it if profanity ever becomes an issue, but hopefully a warning from the author will prevent readers from being surprised.
